The French I remember from school days would not fill half a page! Only
one year of it was offered, and the year I took it, the French teacher left
suddenly and without warning after the second semester started – so I
really had only one semester of French, and received credit for 2 years of
it!! Might add that I took that course when I was nineteen years old – a
long, long, LONG time ago.
