So, when you logged onto two different 9600 numbers, you had upload
problems on both but download problems on only one, do I have that right?
You may want to call your phone company and ask them to check your lines
for line noise. When you call your local access number, you'll be getting
one of several different modems, and if you call a new number, you're even
dealing with a different group of modems. If these wierd things happen
every time, something's going wrong between your modem and the modem you're
dialing.
I know you told me at one point what kind of modem you're using, but I
forget; it isn't a Telebit, is it? Telebit users had a lot of problems
with slow transfer rates until the manufacturer came out with an upgrade to
the driver software; the problem was actually contained there.
Let me know what you come up with on this! I'll be glad to try to help you
pinpoint it some more.
About the bills, I do want to make sure you're aware that the connect
charge for 9600 baud is $22.50/hour, not $12.50 like 1200 and 2400 baud.
