Well, if they didn't that sure would create a problem for developer's. If
I was a major company, and a massively different O/S was only available for
a tiny percentage of the Amigas, I'd find it difficult to justify writing
code to take advantage of the new O/S.
Especially if it meant not being compatible with the majority of the
computers out there.
However, I have a feeling that someone would figure out a way to put them
in the 500/2000 anyway. After all, look at all the A500 users making (or
causing to be made) the minor mods to their machines to take advantage of
the 1 meg agnus. And there's the fine Rejuvinator for the A1000, enabling
owners of the long abandoned machine to take advantage of the new stuff.
(Something I distinctly remember reading a CBM quote saying "It can't be
done".) <g>
