I'll look up videolynx. if you have any more reviews on the toaster for that purpose, i'll look into it too. do you have any idea how much ram i would be looking at for storage of the video? (about 30 secs. of b/w with some reasonable amount of gray) the whole device will be in an environment like an off-road vehicle or airplane, so moving parts would like to be kept to a minimum. that's why i'm hoping to use electronic memory and some compression scheme. the video upon playback only has to differentiate between different objects, so the gray levels don't have to be as deep as a classic movie.
