Jonathan,
It's a frustrating thing to know that the Amiga has pioneered so many
areas, such as Multi-tasking and Multimedia, that are only now becoming hot
topics industry-wide. Unforunately, most of the attention seems to be
directed at the IBM and Mac products and not Amiga.
Part of the problem is Amiga's low marketing profile in the U.S. ,
everything is word of mouth. I've never seen an Amiga commercial and most
computer stores don't even have one on display. t's even worse in corporate
America.
However, I was just reading about Amiga's upgrade incentives and it
certainly seems like a good marketing move. In my estimation, the Amiga
people really need to up their circulation to the point where they have the
kind of critical mass in the U.S. that will force computer stores to start
carrying their machines and software in greater numbers. It might even be
worth selling them at cost for a period of time.
I for one would really love to have one of the new Amigas, but I just
cannot spare the cash right now. I've got a baby on the way…I mean my
wife has a baby on the way <g>… So for the time being, talking to you
folks here on the forum is the closest I'm going to get to one.
