As I understand it, JPEG is a loss-y scheme…so there'll always be some
image degradation, even at small compression ratios. I know that at least
one of the Mac JPEG implementations allows you to select parts of an image
to receive more (or less) compression than the rest of the image. [Ugh,
bad English. <g>] If ASDG's JPEG allows this, then you may still find it
useful at times. But there'll still be some loss.
