Victor – On the Amiga's possible "future-orphan" status: My gut feeling is that becoming an orphan is a strong possibility for the Amiga. I know that those are fightin' words to some, but I believe it. However, right now, it is the only tool for many jobs, and the most cost-effective for others. As long as CBM and the third party companies continue to make this true, the Amiga will remain. Also; the Amiga is the bread and butter product for CBM. Unless they decide to become just another clone company, they will eventually be forced to give the machine a complete overhaul; alternately, they could end up pitching yet another platform. There were those that were waving CBM goodbye back in '84/'85, before the Amiga. At that time, their big machine was the C-64, which was becoming rapidly outclassed by other platforms.
