Just a sidenote to the C-64 story. We use them in the FAA to send and
display weather information, Pilot reports, and other notes between the
Tower's and Flight Service stations. I helped write the software and it is
burned into Eprom using a cartridge. It's been a fairly reliable system in
use about 4 years, 24 hours a day – 7 days a week. The only problem is that
I have to replace the keyboards once in awhile. With so much use, they
can't take the beating. So even though the C-64 is a bit obsolete
technically, it still is a great workhorse of an 8-bit computer.
