What can the Amiga do? Lets just say theres not really anything it can't do. IBM Compatable? Yes, there are a number of ways to make the amiga IBM compatable. On the Amiga 2000 & 3000 models the best bet is a bridge board. This will allow you to run IBM software and use IBM hardware/cards AND run Amiga application at the same time–yes, the Amiga runs the IBM side as a task. You can also Make the Amiga Macintosh compatable, and since the amiga has some advantages in it's display hardware, the Mac emulator runs about 10-15% faster than a real mac with the same proccessor. I could type forever on what the video toaster does. Suffice to say, NOTHING exists for the Mac or IBM that comes close to what the toaster gives you. Basically its a TV studio on a card, giving you features like frame buffering, character generation, video switching, Video F/X, an Incrediable 3D modeler/animator and much more. The best way to see what the toaster does is either go find an amiga dealer that has one or Call Newtek at 1-800-843-8934. They will send you a video of the toaster and all it's functions for $5. Well Worth it! Does anyone here use Amiga for editing etc….YES, and I'm sure those people will have a reply to this question for you shortly. You're looking at proably around $5000-$8000 for a loaded system. This is an Amiga 2000 w/toaster & TBC. 8 Megs of ram, a 105M Hard drive, 33Mhz 68030 and software.
