The standard HAM-E goes to as wide as the Amiga chip set allows- that means that you can get about 368 _visible_ pixels out of it, and you can work with SuperBitMaps as well (all our s/w allows images much larger than the Amiga's screen size – Image Professional in particular isn't limited by anything but your memory). The HAM-E Plus adds an "Anti-Alias Engine" which doubles the output pixel rate and also provides many more colors on screen by (a) shortening the original lores pixels until they are the same size as hi-res pixels, and (b) inserting a new hi-res pixel in between the which originals which is created by a 3-d (RGB) average of the neighboring pixels. This is an Anti-alias operation and results in a more photo-like image. There will not be a pure high res (in the Amiga sense of the term, 768 pixels) HAM-E unit because that would eliminate the ability to animate, and to allow standard viewers to work with the images. Of all the other graphics solutions available for the Amiga, only DCTV also offers the ability to operate with standard viewers. The image quality is far less than that of the HAM-E, even though it is nominally a lo-res device, it doesn't have the same output res as the HAM-E. It is much lower. Both products do allow standard viewers, such as AmigaVision or any littlle PD viewer, to operate with these images. For high resolution imaging, we currently recommend the Impulse FC24 – this is a very fine unit, and provides 24 bit output at 1024 x 482. Ben Amateur Radio Callsign is A A 7 A S
