JPEG PRESS RELEASE
Actually, there is a standard for JPEG files called JFIF – which is stated
in our press release. I understand that PhotoShop also uses JFIF. JPEG is
lossy – you control the amount of loss which can be extremely small so as
to be entirely insignificant and yet provide compression between 10 and 20
to one. Depending on implementation, you can get compressions between 5 and
15 to 1 without loss.
