Well said Steve. This 'rumour' about 2.0 not shipping in the US has really changed the atmosphere in the msg base lately. While everyone should continue to (have and) express thier concerns about where the Amiga stands and where it is heading in the future, we should also remember several things… – First, the rumour was denied by Mr. Dionne. While I (we) may not be happy with the timeframe it eventually takes, I (personally) have ZERO (wel, maybe one <grin>) doubts about it's shipping. – Again, while it's been a long time comming (2-3 years?), the 2.0 OS is MUCH better than 1.3, the people at C= under Andy Finkel did a fine job at both creating it and _debugging_ it. It maintains compatibility beyond what one might reasonably expect. – There has been a lot of effort (from a programming point of view) in the new OS and CATS support to make it easier for large PC companies to port thier products to our beloved platform (not that I personally care much for 'ports', gimme native developed code any day). So we may start seeing more of the big name companies hopping on the bandwaggon. – We, the people (sorry), have always been the best salespersons for this machine (unfortunately), and having the msg base full of nothing BUT concerns/worries/pessimisam (sp) is not good PR and doesn't give a true picture to 'on-lookers' (read: potential buyers). – <insert everything Steve said here> As a developer, I hear about comming products and developements (that I can't discuss) and am very much looking forward to the upcomming DevCon to get the latest information. While I'm always anxious for new technology on the Amiga, the wheels grind slowly, and I wait. I see the machine for what is is and what it can be and just don't see the same potential in an Intel based platform. In short, I'm anxious but happy, thank you. <stepping down> Keith
