Of course, Steve, one issue people often overlook re the "Amiga graphics
are lagging" issue is that the very NTSC video compatibility that is built
into the Amiga, which has been a great virtue and selling point for people
in the video niche, is also holding back expanded video modes. However, I
expect it will happen. Only trouble so far is that no 24-bit standard has
emerged. The CBM "Lowell" board won't run Workbench, even! These so far are
all niche products, not mass-market alternatives like VGA. But that will
come. Plus, I think it's likely there will be at least one more iteration
of the Amiga, in the form of a 68040 machine that may not be all that
backward-compatible but will offer all the goodies and power everyone now
claims to want.
