Really I'm not familiar with DR DOS. I saw it in a box in a store for the
first time last month…
You say that DR DOS doesn't boot for you (I assume on your bridge) because
some file is hidden (I assume you mean missing). Logic suggests (as I have
nothing else to base it on) that there are two possibilities. Either the
disk that was shipped with DR DOS is truly missing a file (not an
impossibility, but unlikely for a company of DR's reputation) or the system
(possibly the Janus software) is looking for something that is special to
the Amiga's XT-BB makeup. A guess would be the first (have someone check
it on their XT?).
Even if you get DR DOS to boot, won't you have trouble getting the Janus
utilities (AREAD, AWRITE, etc.) to work with it? I would guess that it's a
different kernel, so software may not be directly compatible.
I had no trouble installing MS-DOS 5.0 and it provides a simple option for
uninstalling it if I find it doesn't work with something (it hasn't failed
yet).
