Of course it's a question of copyright — WP Corp. owns the copyright
to the program, as it is their intellectual property. All the software
license does is to grant the licensee (you, the customer) the right to use
this intellectual property, as governed by the terms of the license. Were
the license to be declared invalid, then you'd have NO RIGHTS to the
property, not unlicensed rights to the property.
Now, I am not a lawyer, so one shouldn't take my word as gospel.
However, I do make my living from software, so I do make it a point to try
to understand these issues to a certain extent.
