I think it's still possible to upgrade Cando 1.0 to 2.5. (the latest version) You should realize though that you will lose a couple of things when you upgrade. First, the help system of the newer versions (2.0 and up) uses Commodore's AmigaGuide. Because of this you no longer have an insert command button on the help screen. This means that if you have trouble remembering the syntax for a command you will have to refer to the manual or keep note paper handy to jot things down from the help screens. Second, (and much worse) you no longer get the DeckBinder. If you want to generate stand alone programs you will have to register with Innovatronics as a developer, send them a copy of your program and wait for them to send you a special version of the DeckBinder. Last time I asked there was no charge for Shareware/PD but you will have to pay a licencing fee if you want to write commercial software. The license fee varies depending on the cost of the program you write, but I was unable to get specific examples. While Cando is a nice program for prototyping software, it's still pretty weak about dealing with graphics and animation. If you plan on writing a lot of graphicly intensive stuff you'd probably be better off with something like Amos or a compiled basic. They're not as easy to use, but you'll get a lot better performance.
