Don…
just a side note…
It really bothers me that paper products like telephone directories that
have been buried in landfils for forty years are still readable. Things
like paper phone books and encyclopedias are, IMHO, an archaic. They are
outdated the very moment that they are printed and waste tremendous
amounts of natural resources (not to mention that they are expensive to
produce and distribute). Such items would be far more useful if the
information contained in them were stored electronically and a system of
electronic retrieval were available to everyone via cable TV and/or
touchtone telephone.
We make some lousy choices in our society… and sometimes the good
decisions are too long in coming. But then, maybe that's the check's &
balances way of accomplishing change.
