Mister Timothy P. Trompeter:
No, I am not a jerk or, at least, I hope not. Many of my instructors
have specifically asked for me to sign up for their classes simply because
I do keep abreast of current political debate. If I were a "jerk", I do
not think this would be the case, as I am sure any teacher would agree.
Your reply to Don definitely fell into the categories of (1) "put up or
shut up", and (2) political correctness. I find that latter category more
distressing than the former. You assert that Don is not entitled to an
opinion since he is a sysop. Something is wrong with this picture. The
first category, I do not find distressing at all. As I stated in my
previous reply to you, if you wish to discuss the characteristics of
garbage decay, I would be more than willing. On many parts of this topic,
you are quite correct, although I do disagree on some specifics.
You seem to feel that only members, not sysops, are entitled to have an
opinion, and furthermore, that these opinions must follow your doctrine of
"fairness". I do not buy this logic. It is sad enough that I have to
encounter this logic on campus, let alone here. Don is just as entitled to
his opinions as you, or anyone else, is. I don't necessarily agree with
these opinions, but that is what "Ramblings" is all about. If you can't
take the heat, get out of the kitchen. I have, on occasion, in this
thread, challanged others on a statistical basis.
I _do_ have the background to back up my assertions and if you insist, I
can provide citations. Can you? At least Don is willing to mention his
sources.
