Michael: I own Platinum Works myself. I never did really like it. The spreadsheet module was OK, and the communications module offered a lot of features. However, the WP and DB look like throwbacks to the CP/M days with pull-down menus tacked on. The best rating I could give the package is so-so. I agree that people tend to outgrow these types of programs quickly. I think the reason is lack of power. Existing "Works" packages are aimed at beginners and have no room for growth. Once a beginner has learned all the basics, they usually _crave_ more power. The Amiga market is unique. We have some of the best PD/Shareware offered on any platform. This is why I subscribe to the idea that commercial products need to be powerful. This includes "Works" type packages. On the other hand, I don't think we should forget about the beginner. Hence the idea that all software, even the most powerful, should be easy to learn. I know, "easier said than done". Wayne
