Betty, The chips are installed now. I am reading the "getting started" booklet and am really have trouble getting the disks to take. This is more confusing than I thought it was going to be. Following the second paragraph on page 24 doesn't help. When I click on UpdateWB I am asked for the extra's disk. Then it asks me what language I speak. (usa w/combination of numbers or just plain usa) (they are each called "american" so I don't know if one is more accurate than the other). What a dumb thing to quibble over. Then it says to reboot with the installation software but then when I do, nothing has changed. What did I do wrong now? The first paragraph under the section "Hard Disk Based Systems" on page 25 says to "copy the contents of the Workbench2.0, Extras2.0, and AmigaFonts2.0 disks, and perhaps certain items to your hard disk. The Update WB script provided on the 2.0Install disk will perform the default installation automatically." So I copied ALL those disks onto my hard drive and then I clicked on the UPDateWB drawer and got the same run around as before, and I STILL had to insert the extras disk. Nothing had changed. BTW how am I, an Amiga novice, supposed to know which of those "certain items" from 2.0Install to copy??? That seems mighty presumptious of the author. Then on page 26 under the section "Reformatting" I am told "in order to gain full performance benefits of the 2.0 filesystem, you should reformat your hard disk. This should be done some time after doing the 2.0 installation. when you have set up your system the way you want it and are sure it is stable." Then it explains the benefits relating to things taking less time. SO—? I need quite a few things explained here. How do I get this installation done so I can reformat? The WB window is very trashy looking now with these four new disks messing up the place. IF I am just supposed to do the reformating from where [ MORE ]
