Your example of several programs costing more than one integrated program is valid, but remember, integrated programs are usually weak in at least one area. By weak, I mean that they do not have the features that a user needs to use the program the way he wants. Now here is the rub. The weak area from my point of view is not the same as the weak area from your point of view. So I think Final Copy is great, you think it is trash, but Pro Page is just what you need. The Amiga mult tasking lets me use the Word Processor I want with the spreadsheet I want, and so on. I don't want to discourage you about writing a combination program. But I would suggest that you implement the pieces as seperatly runable programs, for two reasons. First, they can be done much faster. Second, I may not be able to spring for the full package, but just really need the spreadsheet and the word processor. This is kind of what Micro Systems Software started doing with Organize! (a not terribly exciting data base), Scribble! (a very simple word processor), and Analyze! (still IMHO the best spreadsheet for the Amiga). With a little thought, these could have acted almost like a single package, but they have been passed with time. Incidently, you are correct that software, like records or CD's for your sterio, cost more than the hardware you run it on. I have over twice the cost of my system in software, and that's not counting any of the games on the system. If you think the cost of software is bad on the Amiga, be happy you don't own a PC or, even worse, a Mac. Bill Roberts in Ellettsville In. via Whap!
