I ran into this problem when you-all found a Hyperchem forum message in your Hyperchem library. That was originally an ASCII file I hade generated in a word processor. I am using OZCIS (I hope this doesn't violate your suggestion Richard-you did not mention it) when using compuserve and there was an ASCII upload option I chose which somehow only allowed me to upload into the library. I bet if I read another 300 pages of the manual I could figure out how to load an ASCII file directly into the forum. It turned out to be simpler to just write a binary file directly in the OZCIS editor. At any rate your sys-op found a way to transfer the file from the library to the forum (by which time I had already uploaded a binary file version- somewhat humorous). Since, windows and a number of other options can directly capture text from the screen and dump it in a word processor, this would seem to close the loop (internet to compuserve forum). I'm not at all sure you-all care to exercise such an option. This now reminds me of files in Hyperchem. I know how to download X-Ray X,Y, and Z coordinates from Cambridge Crystallographic Database as ASCII files. With minor editing, I can read them into PCMODEL and from PCMODEL I can write them as Sybyl files. With Alchemy III, I can write the Sybyl files as .MOL files which I can now transfer into Hyperchem using ConSystant (I'm not sure of the last part (but will be shortly?) as I just got my copy of ConSystant today). Somewhat convoluted…..
