When you morph text, you've got to be incredibly careful about how the end-caps get moved during the morph operation. The basic limitation of our morph routine is that end-caps do not get re-capped dynamically during the morph… the points on the caps just get displaced to the new morph positions. When the caps are severely displaced, it can cause smoothing irregularities and other face artifacts. Sometimes you can cover these artifacts up by texture-mapping the surface. Better still, try being a little creative and morph the text to an intermediate object and then scale the intermediate object down as you scale up the object that it's supposed to morph into. – G
