When you morph text, you've got to be incredibly careful about how the
end-caps get moved during the morph operation. The basic limitation of our
morph routine is that end-caps do not get re-capped dynamically during the
morph… the points on the caps just get displaced to the new morph
positions. When the caps are severely displaced, it can cause smoothing
irregularities and other face artifacts. Sometimes you can cover these
artifacts up by texture-mapping the surface. Better still, try being a
little creative and morph the text to an intermediate object and then scale
the intermediate object down as you scale up the object that it's supposed
to morph into.
