Ben, Thanks; i'm playing around with that and also the strip() command WHawes mentioned, i'll see what happens. I've got a little macro that's not currently working; looks like i'll have to get it to do the following things: 1) rename the buffer from "dir:imagewhatever" to dir:imagewhatever 2) save that buffer (i've tried using the render command but it doesn't work the way I've tried to use it; even after changing the buffer name. 3) exit from IM (this works, i just used 'close' on the last line of the macro. Do you think that i need to have AREXX wait to 'close' IM for a specified amount of time so that it can write to the new file? I was wondering if that was perhaps why it doesn't want to save the modified image…maybe i'll try the 'save' command instead….. If i get a bit further along, i'll post the trimmings on your BBS; if it ever gets FINISHED, i'll post it here 😉 .. Tim Trompeter…
