Brian, Yes, you can reformat a single partition of a hard drive. Sorry to hear that the interactive didn't work. Did it error out when you tried it on the file? How about rename didn't work either? How large is the partition? Just use the either the format command from the shell or in WB like you would for any disk. FORMAT DRIVE DHn: name SOandSO FFS noicons (if you don't want the trashcan, I can't see why anyone would) Chris
