Are you sure about the 'no C+'? It was "official liturgy" in a university
course on C++ that it was an AT&T unreleased version that dealt with some
complaints on C and added some OO features but not to the level of C++.
the professor was supposedly working from Bell Labs source. Do you have
one to the contrary that I can reference?
In fact, looking back at my notes, C+ was a shorthand term used for "C
with Classes" from about 1980 to 1983 when the term (and more capable
compiler) C++ became available. I have no named reference down for where
that came from but I did see something similar (but not as explicit) in
the Stroustrup C++ Programming Language 2nd edition where he refers to the
BCPL heritage.
