What I found amusing about WP for Amiga is that it was all written in
assembler, yet had one of the worst levels of performance I've ever seen in a
"productivity" (?) package.
In "big" companies like WP, their quest for standardization often stifles any
creativity. They ported an old version of WP DOS to the Amiga, with the
minimum level of GUI support. WP continues to be one of my least favorite
products of all time. There's no way it should have achieved the level of
success it has, but then, neither should MS-DOS have either. It seems that if
a product can reach a point where "consultants" and "trainers" start to
proliferate to "help" corporations use bad products, there's little to stop the
snowball effect. This happened with Novell also, but at least they now have a
pretty decent product. WP for Windows looks pretty, but as far as I can tell
it's still inferior to the other two heavyweights (Word and AmiPro).
