They will not charge you a cent even if the problem is a Simm IF your
board is still under warranty (from your post it sounds like it is). I
don't know what you mean it took a letter and two phone calls to register
the board (I don't doubt you called I was just wondering if Tri State
included a regristration card the copy of the disk and photocopy of the
manual smells VERY fishy) If not you may have been taken for a ride and
gotten some gray market goods( for the benifit of those who don't know
what these are they are goods sold to a distributer for a very low price
without an american warranty. The idea is that the dealer in the OVERSEAS
country will supply the warranty. Some DirtBags resell these units in the
US which in NY is legal BUT they are supposed to tell you that the goods
are gray market.) If it is a Simm, they can test the Simms individually
you only have to replace that Simm (this could be free if the people you
bought the memory from allow it, I know Memory World has this policy) The
problem could be as simple as the Simms not being seated properly their
Simm connectors take ALOT to be desired they are difficult buggers. I
don't know what "problem with 68000 motherboards mean unless you mean
versions of the Amiga motherboard which as most of us know some
motherboard versions were JUNK and cause problems with LOTS of hardware.
There is one mail order company in NJ which I know of which provised lots
of misinformation and VERY poor customer support. GVP does make a fine
product (I have a couple of their hard cards) but the Vectors edge is disk
acess speed, and the ability to have your harddrive in 68000 mode.

PS I fully understand your problem about the unavailability of a board for
a swap but this is becomming the norm in the industry with manufactures.
This is the problem with mail order the price is good BUT if you use your
Amiga for business a Good local dealer would probably have been able to
help you out. I know they seem to be harder to find than hens teeth tho…
