Adam, Thanks for the help. Shortly after writing my note regarding the half-hidden icons, I decided to attack this problem one final time. I finally discovered that selecting double width screen under preferences environment did the trick. Both columns of icons are now fully visible and easily selected. Don't know why I had missed this option in earlier attempts to solve the problem. Tom
