Thanks <chuckle> but rather than genius, lets just recognize that I have been using PgS pretty heavily for a number of years now. If you look at how PgS starts up (with something like SnoopDos) much of what you have to do with the font manager actually begins to make sense. As I view PgS, I suspect that it trys to "get a look" at about everything that may be used during program operation at startup time. My guess would be that this is done to improve performance when you are actually running the program (that is you do not have to wait while PgS loads and verifies import/export modules and the like). BTW, unfortunately the fact that a font do work with a program does not necessarily mean that the font is "OK." There is a great deal of information about fonts that is not necessarily looked at by every program and some programs appearently will "default" a bad parameter where others just fail. -bill
