Responding a little late, but . . .
If your text is 2D, you could create bitmaps of the outlined white text in
something like CorelDRAW! or a bitmap editor. Then, apply these bitmaps to
flat, clear planes as decals. Then, move the planes appropriately.
For best lighting in this case, simply max the ambiant and use no other lights.
