ah the LUN issue. A touchy one it is indeed. As might be expected, there is
the world way and the IBM way and as you might also expect, they ar ein fact
different. To the world, LUN 0 and LUN 1 are harddrives. This extends into
pre-SCSI and SASI times when the first devices were harddrives. In the NT
kernel, 0 & 1 are assumed to be drives. Been that way since earliest beta.
I would not hesitate a second on the AST. Indeed a hot system and one that
can be a great server. Using the proprietayr IBM system that will not run OS2
is really sharp. Every once in awhile, I feel the necessity of getting a big
stick and just beating the hell out of administrators. tehy get so concerned
about cost here and cost there that having a piece of equipment work is a
totally novel concept. My problem is that I never seem to use a big enough
stick. teddy roosevelt was only partially correct, he should have said "speak
firmly and without hesitation, when that fails beat the hell out of them with
the biggest stick you can find so that you leave a lasting impression"
