It comes with an 8 bit SCSI which is almost a plug an play card, however I use it with an adaptec 2842 VLB SCSI and yes, the scanner is a fast scsi2 device. The termination is carried out by a plug in module at the back (about the size of a 25 pin gender bender) and the SCSI ID is set externally on the scanner by the incredibly complex task ( NOT!) of turning a small dial. Seriously, it's a pretty much flawless package. But do read the Getting Started manual be for you start. I didn't and ended up buggering up the catch that locks the scanner for transport. Still thats what sticky tape is for I guess.
