The richter scale is logrithmic..
5.0 is 10x more powerful then 4.0
6.0 is 100x more powerful then 4.0
7.0 is 1000x more powerful then 4.0
6.6 compaired to 4.2 is a huge difference.
The 6.6 quake I think ranks it about the 5th most powerful in the
states this century.
