Ron, Ans I would be all for hardware keys built into a machine (the public key) and private keys buile into the software that modify the install disk so that the software can only be installed on and run on one machine. It would be hard to break, and even if you managed to get decrypotd memory image for cross load to another machine, a simple paging schem could prevent you from getting it all at once. Modest trade fees for disk swaps if you buy a new machine would be alright by me, but you still end up with one software set per hardware set. You could still make back-ups but they also would be encrypted to your machine only. If you want multi-machin use, pay for a multi-use license and get another set of disks for each machine yoiuwant ot run it on for a nominal fee. Now, if the software developers can prevail upon hardware makers to put hardware encrypt/decrypt keys in the machines… Course it gets to be a hassle upgrading to new machine if you have 60 packages… :^< wmc – via Autopilot!
