A close friend of mine works at FTI, here in San Francisco. I do my
Abekas transfer to tape there. They are, indeed, a knowledgable,
able, and nice bunch of people. They specialize in forensic, high
res animations for big lawsuits and the like. When I say big, I mean
BIG. Got to be to keep all those SGI's (tons of Iris's, a Crimson
multi, etc…) running, and all those copies of Wavefront bug free.
By the way, FTI has expressed interest to me in offering service
bureau functions to outside animators. Their prices are very
competetive, and they have great toys: Abekas A66, Sony CRV, BetaSP
editing suit (not sure of the details on that), etc… .
