Larry: I really appreciate your help. Yes you are write in your assumption of what I need to do. I wonder why more people are not interested in this thread, I know most people don't have several Gigs available on their hard drives. By no means am I a programmer, but I kind of see what your a saying. My trouble will be in trying to write the necessary programs. Do you think that the batch file you referred to in PC Magazine (Vol 12, No. 7) could be modified to read/write the counter file that you refer to in the "2nd easy path". Would the counter file hold just the 4 digit number or the whole file name? Anyone else got any ideas? I'm surprised that this has not been done already.
