I've no doubt that Macs and PCs are catching up in that department
(conversion to NTSC) but it's still less straightforward and more
expensive. E.g., GVP's GLock for the Amiga ($399 for a unit that also
handles sound) is now available in a Windows version for PCs — at
least twice as expensive and no sound capability.
If you are hinting at non-linear digital editing, that's available
(or will be shortly) on all platforms. But that's really only a
solution for high-end purposes, since it takes such huge gobs of RAM
and hard storage. In short, for typical home purposes it's overkill.
