>>Dear Daniel, I have been using AutoCAD 12 since third or fourth quarter of 1992 and 3D >>Studio since the day before Thanksgiving last year. I am just a beginner in using 3D Studio. >>AutoCAD 12 is fairly easy to use and it has commands that I need to make 3D drawings of >>objects. 3D Studio is harder to use than AutoCAD 12 but it is not frustrating to use. I have >>never used 3D Studio program before the day before Thanksgiving last year. I need >>third-party books on using 3D Studio. I can't afford to go to Autodesk Training Center. Jeffrey. Jeffrey, I,ve been using Acad since release 9, and 3ds since it was first released (release # 1, VERY SLOW RENDERING) , please be assured the majority of us are not Master Experts with this stuff, well with a few exceptions, most of us are LIKE YOU, we continue to try to BECOME Masters at it, but one thing must be kept in mind, 3ds r3 and Acad 12 are very complex and very powerful tools, its like having this huge tool box and the challenge is to lean to use each one individually and together. This is no easy task. As for books, I too would like to sample some of the "after market" books out there for 3ds, I know that when I first started to learn Acad it was those kind of books that were the most help. I can also say that the 3ds TUTORIAL is excellent in comparison to most software packages, I have found that I prefer to just "jump into it" and by pass the READING but with 3ds that does not work, I forced myself to go to the tutotial and follow it step by step, some of the stuff was boring, stuff I already knew, but alot I did not know, I found myself saying "OH WOW" alot. I am still working thru it and I've had 3ds r3 since it hit the streets. As for the Autodesk Training classes my personal feeling is that it is more for those who have A LOT OF MONEY to throw around and I don't believe you would learn any more there than you would by doing what you and most of us are doing, TRYING, TRYING,TRYING, reading the books, begining with the tutorial and don't give up….I've gotten to the point many times when giving up was looking like a reasonable solution, however, I've never given up, ON ANYTHING, in fact the tougher the challenge the more bull headed I get…..I BET YOU ARE JUST AS TOUGH ! Stay in touch Daniel
