Nik,
Thanks for the tip on Media player. After I posted the query, I installed
"Outpost" from Sierra.
It had 'mciaap' and now everything is fine.

P.S.
There also is a file called 'mplayer.ini' in the \Windows or \Windows\System
folder. This also has to have an entry added under [devices]. Something like
Animation=350, Autodesk Animation.
