I have recently purchased a 1.7 gig scsi II Micropolis HD for my Amiga 4000 w/ Toaster. I purchased this drive from a supply house, so they have no idea what an amiga even is. So I was quite dismayed when I had problems formating it. So I am appealing to this forum, to see if anyone has had a simular problem, and might have a solution. The setup: I have an A4000 w/ 10megs Ram. Two IDE drives, and a 2091A scsi card with a Toshiba 870meg HD and a new Micropolis 1.7gig drive. System 3.0 I have used HDtoolbox, to read the drives parameters. It comes back reporting that the drive has only one head (it has 15) but the capacity comes up as 1683k. Which sounds reasonable to me (converting Million Bytes into Megabytes). I partitioned this drive to be one 1024meg partition and the rest as a second partition. The problem: I format the first partition, works fine. I format the second partition works fine, but the first partition is now ruined. If I reformat the first partition it destroys the second. I have checked the partitioning data in HDtoolbox, and the cylinders are not overlapping. (for each partition). Also I seem to be only able to get 400k/s transfer out of this and the toshiba drive. (there is no memory on the 2091 card). So I was wondering if anyone else has a simular setup, and if so how they managed to correct this. Also what Mask and Max transfer values should I be using. I purchased this drive as an emergency replacement for my failing Toshiba drive, as it fails to spin up more and more frequently. So any help you could give to solve this problem would be greatly appreciated. If this is in the wrong forum, please tell me which forum I should direct this at. Thanks in advance for any help you might be able to offer. Bert
