"I can see games not working if they use the Akido(sp) chip but there is
no excuse for them not running otherwise. What could it take?"
It would take the special CDROM drivers that Commodore would not make
available for the Amiga. Sometimes the extra functions in the CDTV drivers
are useful to a CDROM developer and they will use the functions, making
the software incompatible with the plain drivers used on Amigas.
If Commodore had included the drivers with AmigaDOS, CDTV/32 developers
would have millions of additional potential customers. Instead, Commodore
kept CDTV/32 walled-off and essentially a separate platform (somewhat
compatible, but people don't want to chances with "somewhat").
