Erik: Do you already have PC TCP/IP software? If not, before you spend somewhere around $500.00 or so that most of the commerical packages sell for you should look into one of the shareware implementations. I use a package called QVTNET that uses a packet driver to talk to the network card. I know that there are packet drivers available for Arcnet cards as well. I have my PC & Amiga networked together using TCP/IP, (with ethernet cards) and while I don't have NFS (the ability to mount remote disks, and use them as if they were local ones) I'm able to transfer files back & forth using FTP, and there's even a version of FTP that basically looks like a fileutil ( Remote system on one side, local PC on the other, select files to be transfered, method of transfer (binary or ascii), and click on the direction arrow, and the transfer happens. Another option open to you if you have available serial ports on both machines would be to setup either a SLIP or PPP serial link between them, you'd still need AmiTCP & the PC TCP/IP software, and it might be a hair slower, however PC's aren't speed demons when running TCP/IP (the Amiga is faster than any of the shareware TCP/IP packages I've tried on the PC), so the speed difference might not be all that bad, and you'd save the expense of getting a PC Arcnet card. // -Mike Schiller \X/ AMIGA!
