I thought the stereo stuff was a little off, too… I remember the paddle game from two years ago. This time, my wife said something to the effect of "this is a rigged demo." The more I thought about it, the more it made sense… How can you distinguish it from a rigged demo? I was certainly able to wiggle my pixel during the intro segment of the demo… but after that, how could you tell? It's exactly the kind of trick a magician plays, in order to get you to believe that you control some aspect of the illusion. It's an interesting psychological game. During most stages of the Nessie game, certainly Carpenter was in charge of at least three variables, and it wasn't clear which the audience was supposedly controlling. Rigged or not, I see how it might meet his objectives for making a touchy-feely educational experience. As for being trapped in a room with a nerd… exactly! But you didn't have this feeling at any other moment during the show? 🙂
