Making everything perfect is rarely possible or practical, so a magician's skill at misdirection can really help. BTW, you are not the only one who wasn't convinced by the interactive diving demo. I suspect that it may have been designed to be interactive, but it just didn't work right. Most of what we saw was "played" by the guy running the computer. I also suspect that the Pirate's voice belonged to someone sitting back stage. At Tuesday's ET, he said something like "Let's stop shooting each other and shake claws" — just too darn coincidental for the current state of confusion in the audience.
