thanks for the help on this, i'll give it a try. it seems like a prime candidate for a wish list, but its probably too late for this. the one problem i've alway had with 3ds is that it behaves so differently than autocad. no o-snaps, copying and editing techniques, etc. you can tell it wasn't written by engineers or autocad users. in and of itself it's fine, but when its being published by autocad, you expect it to behave similarly, and it doesn't. oh well, its still a fine program; but i still wish i had o-snaps!
