First, sorry for this long delay. I hope the thread is still "alive".
Yes, I've been using RCPADI drivers supplied with the S3 for true color at
640×480 (1Mb) with no problems … until now. This is an extract of my
adventures in Vibland these days.
Release 1.0.1 did nor support S3 PCI.
r1.0.1 works OK with any res-color combination except True color.
So I've been using these drivers for materials and main
display combined with RCPADI for 24 bit rendering.
A week ago I downloaded your last version. Not only it doesn't manage true
color, now 65.??? color modes (16bit) are failing too, giving errors like "AT&T
VGA Hardware checks fail" or 1601 "S3 failed to initialize".
Afortunately I kept the old drivers before installing 1.0.3., but now I can't
make the 1.0.2. version work fine again. When I'm in the materials screen
(Vibrant 640x480x65000) and make a Last Render or a View Image, the software
have to toggle between the vibrant driver and the RCPADI I'm using for
render/display. The first change, from Vibrant to RCPADI is OK. But once the
image is displayed, when going back to the materials editor the system crashes.
And Deep Hang, I've to _reset_. It looks like a hardware fail. This happens
only since I installed the last release of your drivers, so I must have done
something wrong. A help with this?
Some data:
VGA DECpc(S3) 928 PCI 1Mb Ram, with Video DAC support (24bit)
Running in a DECpc XL 560
with the S3 86C928PCI VGA drivers for ADI.
Thanks!
