I've achieved a reasonable gold using a combination of reflection,
self-illuminating and shineness maps with various amounts of masking in
conjunction with KPT.

PS You're manga style woman is AMAZING. One of the best bits of 3d character
animation I've seen to far in 3ds. Can't wait to see more once you've got hold
of IK.
