I can't say anything about the JVC deck, but you might want to consider the AverKey product from ADDA Technologies Inc. In a recent comparison of VGA to NTSC products, AverKey produced one of the best video signals, beating out $1500 scan converters. I don't use it personally, but I've seen how poor signal quality can affect you output. You might also want to wait and see what's waiting in the wings in terms of hard disk playback boards. I recently saw a product called Studio Magic at a trade show for under $1000 that does MPEG compression. Playback was from a standard IDE hard drive. This product had a driver for 3ds so you could render directly to it. The Quality looked very good (352×240, 24 bit 30 frames per second). You can also sync sound. It wasn't as good as the DSP PAR, but if you don't need super quality and are on a budget, it may be what you're looking for. G.O.
