My wife (who is amazingly apathetic about all this stuff) happened to be watching the SIGGRAPH video with me… it takes a lot to impress her, most of the images didn't do anything for her (while I'm salivating)… but then the whale comes on and she says "why can't the others look more realistic like this one?" I explained that the goal of these images isn't always photorealism, but for a lot of them it is and this whale hit the mark. Nice little touch with the air bubbles too, and the barely visible watershifts from above played ocean out very well. A beautiful image. -dave
